What makes this server unique

Powerlevel to 60

Levels 41 to 60 are real character levels on the server's own experience table, with 1.5× XP so you spend more time building and fighting and less time grinding. (In development for Season 2 — see the Roadmap.)

Build experimentation

Multiclass up to 4 classes per character and respec your look freely. There's no single "right" build — the fun is in trying combinations no one else has.

Item builds matter

Gear is as important as class here. The legendary loot scattered across Middle-earth can make or break a build — plan your equipment as carefully as your levels.

Defeat the legends

Hunt iconic characters from the LotR universe as boss fights across the Shire, Bree, Moria, Lothlórien, Rohan, Gondor, Mordor and beyond.

Open PvP

Feeling bold? PvP is open almost anywhere. Test your build against other players, not just the monsters — if you're up for it.

Play your way

Free appearance, weapon-FX and alignment changing, built on CEP 2 with expanded creatures, placeables and gear. Make a character that's truly yours.

Open source

The entire module is open source. Browse the code, download a release build, or submit your own changes on GitHub.

A server shaped by its players

This module is actively developed and built around player ideas. Almost every feature and fix on the server started as a suggestion or bug report from someone like you — and when your idea ships, you earn Merit points to spend on teleports, premium boosts, player housing and more.

The Roadmap & Player Ideas page is the living record of that: everything recently shipped (with credit to whoever suggested it) and a grouped roadmap of what's in progress and coming next.

Got an idea or found a bug? Catch a DM in-game if we're online at the same time — but the most reliable way to reach me is the #feature-requests and #bugs channels on Discord, where nothing gets lost.

Open source — play, explore, or contribute

The module source is publicly available on GitHub. You can browse the scripts and content, download a pre-built .mod release to explore in the NWN toolset, or clone the repo and rebuild the module yourself on Linux using nwn-manager.

Want to add something? Pull requests are welcome — whether it's a bug fix, a new quest, a balance tweak, or anything else you think would improve the module.

Where this module came from

Legendary LotR has a long history. Two earlier editions of the module have been preserved exactly as they were, each with its own full wiki — the same creature, item, store and area documentation you get for the live server, generated from the original .mod files. They're a snapshot of Middle-earth as it was, and a useful reference for anyone curious how the server evolved.

Lord of the Rings

2008 — the original

The module that started it all: 254 areas, 660 creatures and roughly 3,100 items. Much of the geography you walk today was laid down here.

Homer's LOTR Edit

2009 — the first rework

Homer's rebuild of the original: 265 areas and 792 creatures, adding the Blue Tower, the Dragon Disciple hall, Tom Bombadil's house and much more.

Curious what changed — or what got lost along the way? The Fork Diff report compares both archives against the current module: areas, creatures and items that exist in an older edition but not today, loot that used to be obtainable and no longer is, blueprints that were quietly repurposed, and how the scripts diverged. It's a working document for deciding what's worth bringing back.

Plan your build with the wiki

Great characters here are built on both class and item choices — and this wiki is your planning workbench for both. Every creature, item, store, quest and area in the module is documented so you can theorycraft before you ever log in: scout a boss's stats, hunt down the gear that counters it, and map your route there.
